Jenny and Jacob - Engaged! 4.6.09

We met up with Jenny and Jacob on Monday and took in the beautiful cherry blossoms around the Jefferson Memorial and tidal basin.  They were real troopers!  Despite the rain that kept us on our toes (and under our umbrellas!), we got some great pictures!

They bought their CIA-esque rain coats when they saw the weather report!  Talk about the perfect "look" for a rainy DC photo shoot!

The above picture is one of my favorites from the day.

Jenny and Jacob were very patient with us!  Even though it looks like they had the cherry trees to themselves, there were a lot of tourists out and about.  We made them wait, and wait, and wait until the coast was clear so we could get some great shots.  Thanks, guys!

I love this shot of Jenny's engagement ring!  So pretty!

I asked Jacob to kick up his heels a-la "Singin' in the Rain"... He went a lot higher than I was expecting!

We made our way from the Jefferson Memorial to the FDR Memorial.  What a beautiful background for some great shots!

And then... just as we were getting ready to call it a day... the rain stopped!  We couldn't resist taking a few more pictures, sans raincoats, as we headed back to our cars.

Thanks for a great morning you two!  We really enjoyed getting to know you better and are looking forward to seeing you again in October!

Jennifer and Harrison 3.15.09

Jennifer and Harrison were married last Sunday at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Annandale, Virginia.  This fun couple has three main loves:

1) Each other
2) Their families
3) Badminton

Seriously!

It was a fun day (despite the persistent rain) and everyone had a great time!

The color in the ladies' bouquets was absolutely stunning!

Jennifer was positively glowing before her walk down the aisle!

The first look...

Husband and wife!

Their families arranged for a badminton arch!  Jennifer and Harrison were completely surprised and totally delighted.  I told you they loved badminton!

The reception was held at the new visitor's center at Frying Pan Park in Herndon, Virginia.  We headed over to look at the cows and take a few pictures.

The pictures are great...

... but I don't think this little guy appreciated the interruption!

First dance

Have I mentioned how much they love badminton?

In all our years in the wedding industry, we have never seen a bride and groom cut such a clean piece of cake!  Not a crumb nor crumble in sight!
And, yes... it was yummy!

Out in the rain (and the dark) for...

... you guessed it:  a quick game of badminton (sans net)!

Good luck, Jennifer and Harrison!  Thanks for inviting us to be a part of your day.

And thanks for the cookies and leftover cake!  :)

Kristy and Quin 3.14.09

Kristy and Quin had a beautiful wedding, despite the rain, at the Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast in Middleburg, VA.  This location has a special significance to Pernell and I because we, too, got married at the Briar Patch B&B!  It was fun to go back!

It was a small wedding, Kristy and Quin chose to celebrate with family and few close friends, and was planned, largely, by the groom!  Kristy has been living overseas, so when they decided to get married, Quin, who lives locally, took on the challenge of planning their big day.  He did a great job!

Kristy's dress was beautiful!

The groom gets ready.

Husband and wife!

The Briar Patch is located on several acres of beautiful Virginia countryside.  Unfortunately, it was raining and there were few places to go without risking a wet bride and groom!

First dance as husband and wife.

Congratulations, Kristy and Quin!

We're back and ready to roll!

We took a little trip across the pond after Christmas.  Had a great time (went to a friend's wedding - as a guest for once!!) and now we're back!  Bring on the '09 weddings!

Hope everyone had as much fun as we did this holiday season!  Happy New Year!
